Stop the presses!

It's easy to update the digital newspaper: both when major news stories occur after deadline and when an article needs to be amended.

The Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten came out in several editions during the early hours of 6 December.

The news of Nelson Mandela's death hit newspapers' news desks so late on the night of 5 December that most newspapers had already gone to print. Therefore, many newspapers came out throughout the night in second as well as third editions, with updated front pages in both printed and digital versions.

It's quick and easy for media houses to update the digital newspaper on web browser, smartphone and tablet, both when making corrections and updates to the digital edition, as well as when major stories take precedence on the front page, and both printed and digital newspaper must be published in a new edition.

Here, a number of features can help to attract increased traffic in the app. Via Push Notifications, readers can receive notification when a new version has been produced; and with the aid of In App Message, media houses can also inform their readers when there are new updates on the way, combined if desired with a brief summary of the content.

"We're also planning a new feature that graphically illustrates the fact the current newspaper is an updated edition. The app reader can also download the newest version quickly and easily, without having to delete the first edition," explains Team Manager at Visiolink Product Development, Morten Sig Olesen.
